{"id":7125,"date":"2023-09-01T16:43:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-01T22:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hi8lvmqnx7.wpdns.site\/?p=7125"},"modified":"2026-01-16T12:53:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T19:53:17","slug":"media-photo-advisory-celebration-of-sport-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportcalgary.ca\/media-photo-advisory-celebration-of-sport-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"MEDIA\/PHOTO ADVISORY &#8211; Celebration of Sport 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Chancellor Jon Cornish, The Honourable Lois Mitchell, Olympian Haley Daniels and Speedskater Hayden Mayer to Headline Sport Calgary\u2019s Celebration of Sport<br>\u2014Annual sport gala in Calgary set for September 13 at 3 p.m.\u2014<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>CALGARY\u2014<\/em><\/strong>Calgary media are invited to join Jon Cornish, Canadian Football Hall of Famer who was elected the 15th Chancellor of the University of Calgary, The Honourable Lois Mitchell, Olympian Haley Daniels and National Team speedskater Hayden Mayer along with Rilee Many Bears from the Siksika Nation at Sport Calgary\u2019s Celebration of Sport, September 13, from 3-5 p.m. at the Deane House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The distinguished members of Calgary\u2019s sport community will headline Sport Calgary\u2019s annual celebration that will showcase the social impact sport has on people and community, while connecting sport and business leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Catriona Le May Doan, President and CEO of Sport Calgary, will host a fireside chat with Chancellor Jon Cornish before leading a panel discussion with Haley Daniels (canoe athlete), Hayden Mayer (speedskating athlete), and Rilee Many Bears (long distance runner) that will cover topics including: inclusion in sport; the relationship between charity and sport; inspiring youth to play; and sport\u2019s important role sport in building a healthier community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sport Calgary will also recognize the work of key individuals in Calgary\u2019s sport community by presenting key awards. The Honourable Lois Mitchell will present the Sport Volunteer Dedication Award.
